Rock Bottom Diving

scuba diving equipmentRock bottom diving refers to diving to the bottom of the ocean. In other words, you normally need to learn SCUBA diving to enjoy the beauty and glory of the ocean’s bottom. However, for snorkeling enthusiasts fret not! It is still possible to do rock bottom diving with snorkeling via two ways. One is snorkeling in shallow waters while the other is doing unassisted diving. The restriction though is the depth and if you really want to go into rock bottom diving, it is advisable to take up scuba diving.

What is scuba diving?

SCUBA is actually an acronym for self contained underwater breathing apparatus. It is however now considered a word on it’s own. SCUBA diving is rather popular and it allows you to explore the underwater world in ways not possible without a breathing apparatus. Popular dive sites include shipwreck sites and sites with rich corals and fauna such as Mauritius, Maldives and others.

In order to do SCUBA diving, you need to take proper lessons to gain competence in the use of dive equipments. The basic dive equipments you will need to do rock bottom diving is a wetsuit, scuba mask, scuba booties, scuba fins, scuba vest, scuba hood, scuba gloves and scuba bcd. There are other equipments you may require which will be introduced and taught when you enroll for the rock bottom diving course.

The first lesson is normally an introductory dive. Swimming pools may be used to teach the use of the basic SCUBA dive equipments and to familiarize with them before going to deeper natural waters. Professional association of diving instructors (PADI) certified instructors will accompany the divers as they do their first initial dives and as they get competent, they may be able to dive on their own and may even be certified by PADI.
